La prochaine cohorte du programme Préparation et finition de béton débute le 13 janvier au Centre Construc-Plus, à Saint-Eustache. Inscrivez-vous dès maintenant!

Les perspectives d’avenir sont excellentes dans ce secteur. En effet, le besoin de main-d’œuvre est à ce point important que plusieurs finissants sont recrutés avant même l’obtention de leur diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP).

«Le béton, c’est le matériau le plus utilisé en construction, à cause de sa durabilité, de son imperméabilité et de sa résistance au feu, au gel et au dégel», précise M. Luca Landucci, enseignant au programme Préparation et finition de béton, ce qui explique la forte demande dans ce domaine.

Formation bilingue

Ce cours s’échelonne sur sept mois, à temps plein (35 heures par semaine), et est offert en formule bilingue. L’enseignement se fait en anglais et en français et les élèves passent leurs examens dans la langue correspondant à leur choix lors de l’inscription.

La formation comprend également une grande part d’ateliers pratiques. Comme le souligne M. Landucci, les participants apprennent à travailler, niveler, imperméabiliser et faire la finition de différents types de surfaces de béton (dalles, fondations, poutres, revêtement, crépi, balcon, escaliers, etc.), incluant le béton décoratif. «On met aussi beaucoup l’accent sur la santé et la sécurité au travail», dit-il.

Quelques témoignages

La présente cohorte réunit une vingtaine d’élèves. Ceux-ci apprécient l’approche préconisée, car cela leur permet d’être dans l’action et de travailler de façon très concrète.

«Je voulais un métier qui me permet de me dépasser autant physiquement que mentalement. Je me suis renseigné sur le programme Préparation et finition de béton et ç’a vraiment cliqué avec ma personnalité, ce que j’aime dans la vie et ce que j’envisage comme carrière», témoigne Charles-Toby Belzil, 28 ans.

«J’ai été impressionné par la façon dont le département est fait», ajoute William Gélinas, 19 ans, qui se réjouit d’avoir accès à des lieux sécurisés et à un atelier où il peut mettre ses apprentissages en pratique.

Cement Applicator, a Profession in High Demand

Are you looking for a job with a good salary, which requires stamina and being physically fit as well as possessing manual skill? What about becoming a cement applicator? The next group for the Preparation and Finishing Concrete Program begins on January 13th, at Construc-Plus Center, in Saint-Eustache. Apply now!

The future prospects are excellent in that field. In fact, the need for skilled workers is so important that many students are hired even before they obtain their Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS).

“Concrete is the most used building material because of its durability, resistance to water, fire and freeze-thaw cycles,” says Mr. Luca Landucci, teacher for the Preparation and Finishing Concrete Program, which explains the high demand for this trade.

Bilingual Education

This program takes place over a seven-month period, full-time (35 hours per week), and in a bilingual setting. The course is taught in English and French and the students perform their exams in the language they chose at the time of registration.

The program also includes an important part of hands-on workshops. Mr. Landucci explains that the participants learn to apply texture, to level, to make waterproof, and to finish many different types of cement surfaces (such as slab, foundations, posts, coating, parging, deck, stairs, etc.), including decorative concrete. “We also place an emphasis on health and safety at work,” he adds.

This present group includes some twenty students. They appreciate the prospect of being in the action and working in a very practical way.
